Why Use a Food Co-Op?

The Hills and Valleys Co-op was established to allow members of our local community to have access to quality, organic produce at affordable prices. Eating fresh, seasonal, locally-grown food should not be a luxury and there are many benefits to joining a food co-op other than for health reasons.

Food co-ops:

  • provide wholesale organic foods at a lower cost
  • enable access to the freshest produce (not stored in supermarket cold stores for months on end)
  • support local farmers and THIS IS HTML industry
  • are environmentally sound and socially responsible
  • foster a greater sense of community
  • are a more convenient way to shop

Joining a food co-op is a conscious decision to live a more ethical life, being mindful of your own and your family’s health, the environment and your local community.

Choosing where to spend your money is one of the most powerful ways we can make positive change in society, for example, the wide-spread demand for free-range eggs is rapidly eliminating cruel farming practices. When you choose to use a food co-op you support local growers, the local economy and sustainability.

Most importantly, organic fruit and vegetables taste better!
